I always drive past this cute spot, but I hadn't been before. I came with my coworker and wow so yummy. We ordered bunch of things then just shared all of it! They even brought my dog a water bowl which was so so sweet. 10/10 highly recommend and I will be back. Ps parking is tricky. I lucked out with a spot out front bc it was lunch time but give yourself plenty of time to find parking!
Our third or fourth Homestate we've traversed too. It's always a safe bet for any meal of the day and so reasonably priced. Breakfast tacos are awesome and the homemade salsas add a nice touch. It's comfortable to sit in and you never wait for long. Whenever we're in the LA area and the question is 'what do we do about breakfast' more than 90% of the time we both just agree to HomeState. It's an stress-less experience and it's not stuffy brunch place. They have the BEST!!!! Orange juice from Perricone farms there. I would just stop by for the OJ.
It's embarrassing how much I've eaten at this HomeState since it opened back in the day, but the breakfast tacos are just that good every time. Personal favorites are the trinity and the pecos which has the amazing brisket they make themselves. They also make the tortillas themselves, one of the best in LA. And that blended and strong spicy paloma has prematurely ended my workday more than once. The only negative thing I could ever say is they should've had the loyalty program sooner. I'd be breakfast taco rich if they did. One of my favorite local, homegrown chains that's probably the next In-N-Out or maybe even bigger some day.
I order from HomeState for lunch all the time, and here are my favorite items and why it's a staple in my weekly rotation (note that I've never eaten at the brick-and-mortar location itself, so can't speak for the customer service or setting/ambiance): -Tacos: sure, is a $7 taco pricey and kind of ridiculous in Los Angeles? yeah...but are they damn delicious tacos? YEAH... also, with the amount of meat, eggs, and ingredients in them, I find them to be more filling than usual. -Quesadilla: I love their birria quesadilla! Perfect size, and relatively affordable. I almost always get one of the tacos with this quesadilla. -Migas: this is their equivalent of a plate, and it is a LOT of food. Well worth it, and very tasty! If you're looking for a delish Tex-Mex meal that's quick, easy, and oh so tasty - give this place a try!
Was looking for breakfast burrito and HomeState came up in the search. Wasn't sure what to expect as there ended up being no burritos. We ordered the Lonestar Migas and a queso with chips for two of us to share and it was a lot. The migas was loaded with eggs, corn strips, onions, shredded brisket, pico de gallo, and cheese. Between the migas and queso, the corn strips/chips were very filling and we didn't finish either. The cashier was helpful with questions I had about the food. It's a limited service restaurant where you get your own water from a dispenser and pick up your own utensils and bring to a table along with the number you're given after ordering. It's a cute little restaurant with al fresco dining outside. The food was tasty, I would come back again to try other items.
STEPH JUDGEMENT: Delicious Tex-Mex eats in a relaxed, hip setting. We were in the area to catch an art show at the La Luz Gallery across the street and this place was convenient and sounded intriguing, as Tex-Mex places aren't that common. There was a bit of a wait, but not too bad, thankfully, and we got a couple of seats at the bar. We ordered the following: - Blanco breakfast Taco - Chicano Batman (they do collabs with bands, which is a really interesting idea) - Potato Taco - Frito Pie vegetarian Everything was delicious, and the service was super friendly. I'd definitely be down to try them again the next time I'm in the area!
A friend introduced me to HomeState years ago, and while I don't go there very often, I've consistently enjoyed their tacos and friendly service. This location has outdoor sidewalk seating along with tables inside. I often get their chicken tacos, which include guacamole and a cabbage slaw. The Guadalupe is another standby, and that mixes egg, chorizo, and cheddar. Their chips and guacamole are an enjoyable side, and they also offer a great selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
Came by for some lunch and decided on the brisket taco (flour tortilla), potato taco (flour tortilla), chicken taco (flour tortilla) and a large queso which came with a big bag of chips. Since I got it to go I didn't really sit inside but I noticed that there was also some outside seating available. When I got back to my office I pulled everything out and it looked great. The portion is actually pretty good and this was to share with 2 people. The sauces they give have great flavor and pulls together the tacos. Personally I really enjoyed the potato one. It had a lot of flavor and I thoroughly enjoyed this meal! I look forward to coming back and trying some other things from the menu.
